I graduated from Cardiff University in 2006 with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I spent two years working for Lockheed Martin as a Materials Researcher before joining Rotork in 2009. I joined a two-year long graduate scheme which allowed me to spend one to six month placements with various departments. As a technical graduate my first placement was two months on the shop floor. I then moved around various departments in the office gaining experience and an understanding of how the company works and how the departments interlink.
Since completing the graduate scheme I have taken a full time role in the Production Engineering Department. Here I am responsible for various aspects of the factory including improvement activities, developing production processes and responding to production issues. My most recent project was to prepare the factory for a new product we were launching. This involved designing a completely new factory layout based on the planned changes in product, and then overseeing the project to rearrange the factory.
Rotork is a good company as the work is challenging and the fast rate of growth means there are always opportunities for career progression.
