Advanced Modern Apprentice
I joined Rotork in 2010 when I was 17 as an Advanced Modern Apprentice. After completing aptitude tests which suggested I would suit a career in engineering.
Since I have been at Rotork, I have learnt machining and fitting techniques on my college course as well as communication skills and professional work etiquette while I have been on the job.
In a typical day I can be working as part of a team to help design, assemble and move the current layout of the shop floor to accommodate Rotork's new products. Other duties can include; creating new equipment for test rigs, working on our new site, helping the maintenance department with the upkeep of the property and ordering components to replace old or broken equipment.
Whilst working at Rotork I have gained a Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) Level 2 in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering as well as being in the second and final year of a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and a National Diploma in Engineering. After I have completed these certificates I will be working towards achieving my HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
In the future I hope to successfully complete my apprenticeship and continue working for Rotork in a department I enjoy working in. As I am still early on in my apprenticeship, I haven't had much chance to experience many departments, therefore I am excited to move around, learn more and meet new and interesting people.
