I started with Rotork in 2010 as a Technical Apprentice. I joined after completing my A Levels and working for a year, at which point I decided that an apprenticeship would be best for me.
I have learnt many skills including how to work as a team and to accurately follow instructions while moving around the various departments within Rotork.
In a typical day I carry out the duties required of me in the particular department that I am working in and I will also do some college work to help me achieve the qualifications that I am currently working towards.
The best part of working for Rotork is that the work that I do is varied and by the end of the apprenticeship scheme I should have gained good knowledge of the workings of a successful company.
The qualifications that I have already achieved are two Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. I am currently working towards a NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
In the future I will go on to work towards an HNC and then an HND in Electrical Engineering. At the moment I am unsure which department I would like to work in at the end of the apprenticeship scheme but as I move around I am sure I will find one that I will enjoy the most.
