Manufacturing/Craft Apprentice

I joined Rotork in 2011 as a Manufacturing/Craft Apprentice.

During my time at Rotork the main skills I have learnt have been how to build an actuator along with other factory based skills. I have also learnt new people skills as I am in an environment where I am constantly interacting with people in a variety of different roles and levels of experience.

I am enjoying my apprenticeship because it has allowed me to learn many new factory related skills. I also enjoy the social aspect, meeting new people and creating new friendships with the shop floor. The shop floor atmosphere is great - you feel part of a team and everyone is willing to help you if you need it.

At the moment a typical day for me would be starting work at 6:30am on the flow line and working hard to reach my build target. However what I do in a typical day can change as I continue to follow my programme.

I am currently working towards gaining a NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) and key skills NVQ Level 2 in Working with Others and Improving Own Learning and Performance.

I hope to continue and successfully complete my apprenticeship in the hope of securing a permanent position upon completion. I then hope to take every opportunity to progress within the company.
