Position Summary:

The Field Service Technician is a member of a team of engineers who represent the company’s after-sales services. The role involves providing a prompt and effective service to resolve customer issues as they arise. He/she will install, inspect, service, repair actuators and commission associated equipment at customer plants/sites.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Travel as allocated to customer sites, maintain a log of working times and travel
  • Identify faults, repair, test/commission, modify/upgrade actuators in the field
  • Carry out inspections/health checks and PPM work on Rotork actuators
  • Carry out mechanical, (sometimes electrical) installation of actuators and associated retrofit adaption components, pedestals and drive shafts
  • Produce site visit reports for each job, which are accurate and technically/grammatically correct
  • Awareness of different site rules and risks relating to health and safety
  • Produce risk assessments and review/amend method statements in line with site requirements
  • Carry out detailed valve surveys, collecting mechanical data/dimensions
  • Give basic set-up training to customers if required
  • Promote the capabilities of the Service and Site Projects Department and identify business opportunities

Candidate Specification:

  • Technical qualification and/or relevant knowledge of valves, actuators and digital control systems
  • Technical knowledge acquired by a recognised electrical/mechanical engineering qualification/apprenticeship
  • Good understanding of basic electronics theories
  • Experience of working in a practical engineering environment
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Demonstrate an above average mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to think logically for troubleshooting problems
  • IT proficient – service department software and Microsoft Office
  • Awareness of the proper use of equipment and safe handling of electronic devices
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently
