Position Summary:

The main objectives of this post are electronics design testing and making improvements to existing designs. It is expected that, with time and experience, the focus will move towards design of hardware and embedded software for new products.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Product design testing and improvement as a means of the successful candidate learning design for manufacture requirements as well as the full range of Rotork products
  • Provision of technical support to Sales, Service, Production, Buying and Quality departments as required
  • Design of hardware and software used within Rotork products and supporting equipment, including the preparation of such records as may be necessary to demonstrate compliance with its associated specification and any relevant standards under the guidance of a Senior Engineer and the Engineering manager
  • Participating in design reviews, audits and testing to ensure that Rotork designs and products comply with specifications and relevant standards
  • Ensuring the availability of design records and documentation and to assist with the production of Sales and Service literature
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers and other departments throughout Rotork including such visits as may be required both in the UK and overseas

Candidate Specification:

The successful candidate:

  • Should have the desire to learn in a small well motivated team
  • Should have the ability to work as a member of a small team to tight time and cost targets
  • Should be self-motivated with good practical skills and a thorough approach to their work
  • Will be required to liaise with both suppliers and customers, which may in turn necessitate occasional travel

Functional / Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum high grade Bachelor Honours Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

Core Competencies:

  • No experience in industry is necessary since graduating as an Electrical/Electronics engineer
  • Some knowledge of, or experience in the following fields would be desirable but are not essential:
    • Software design using high level languages ie. C, C++ for embedded microcontrollers
    • Digital electronics design including microcontroller applications
    • Analogue electronics design and simulation
    • Motors and motor drives
    • Designs to meet internationally recognised approvals standards
    • Design for manufacture
    • CAD systems in particular DxDesigner/PADS
