International Business Development Executive - Marine
Hi! I joined Rotork's graduate scheme in 2010. I am originally from Mexico, but did my Undergraduate Degree in the US in Electrical Engineering, and went to do a Postgraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy at the University of Leeds, UK. I found the International Sales Graduate Engineer Scheme posted on the career services website of my university and after a successful interview process I moved down to Bath, UK, where the head office is located.
During the graduate programme, I moved from different departments always learning something new along the way. I spent some weeks in each of our divisions learning the products and meeting people that work in our company. The main part of my programme was when I worked for four months in the inside sales department preparing quotations and supporting customers on the phone and by email. This gave me the experience to understand our products and to apply my engineering background to find solutions for our customers.
I am now an International Business Development Executive for the marine industry. My job involves promoting our products in marine applications within our organisation and with potential new customers, and developing strategies that will help us take advantage of the opportunities that this market presents.
When I started working for Rotork, I was told that it is a company where you can grow your career, and this is exactly what I've found. Not only have I had a great work and learning experience, but I've also met many friends in the UK and in other countries. I've met many people that have been working for Rotork for more than 20 years, and I can really see why!
