Field Service Technician

Position Summary:

As a Rotork Field Service Technician, you will be a technical liaison for Rotork Controls, interfacing with technical and non-technical personnel. You will be required to manage customers’ expectations and aid them in achieving their technical objectives as they relate to Rotork Controls Equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

You will need to be:

  • Comfortable working with customers at all levels and have technical abilities with computers, mechanical devices (gears, actuators), electrical test equipment, and with DC and AC voltages (range from 5 VDC to 600 VAC)
  • Required to give training in both formal and informal settings
  • Be prepared for job site visits in order to show competency even when the job scope requires you to perform tasks that you may have limited or no training for the task. Your technical experience, technical resourcefulness, Rotork training and support system will aid you in completing these jobs
  • Physically fit and willing to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, maneuver job site terrain, and travel long distances via service truck or airplane
  • Able to troubleshoot/install/commission hydraulic, mechanical, and electric actuators
  • Self-motivated as you will often be the lone Rotork representative on site and will need to complete paperwork in a timely manner for reporting and accounting purposes
  • As a Rotork FST you will report to the East Coast Factory Store and will have the full support from your management, the back office, engineering, area sales managers and your fellow field service engineers

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand, bend, walk, climb, sit, and drive several hours a day
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Note lifting above 50 lbs may be required, but it is advised to use an additional person or lifting aid to perform lifts greater than 50 lbs
  • Able to use a computer several hours a day
  • Able to enter confined spaces
  • Able to work at heights
  • Able to present technical information to groups

Understanding and working knowledge of:

  • Control voltages (VDC and VAC)
  • Power (VDC and VAC) up to 600 VAC
  • Wiring Diagrams & Schematics
  • Electro/Mechanical Equipment
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • Industrial Communication protocols
  • Control logic
  • Computer reporting/documentation programs

Credentials/Education:

  • Military Technical Training
  • Vocational Technical Training
  • Technical Certifications
  • Associates/Bachelors technical diploma/degree

Note: Rotork FSEs range from HS graduates to degreed engineers. Technical competency, self-drive and a willingness to learn and solve problems are key qualities to be successful as a R-FSE.
