Inside Sales Engineer

Position Summary:

The Inside Sales Engineer will be responsible for supporting the quotation/project bidding process by reviewing customer requests and specifications for Valve Automation Solutions, engineering a design, and producing a technical response to meet the customer’s engineering specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Devise automation solutions for a variety of products and assemblies using knowledge of electronic controls, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic actuators, mechanical systems, and operator interface
  • Evaluate products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Provide technical support to customers, Engineering, Production, and Contracts departments
  • Provide support coverage to Rotork offices, representatives, and area sales managers in the Americas
  • Review customer request for quotation (RFQ), project specifications
  • Size, select, and communicate via operational description and schematics; electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and high-pressure gas systems
  • Devise a technical and commercial proposal based on best engineering solution and feedback from area sales manager, representatives, and Rotork offices in the Americas to maximize win opportunity
  • Work with Engineering and Contracts departments on engineering solutions and commercial issues
  • Schedule and chair meetings on large potential projects to include Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Contracts departments to discuss both orders and active projects. This process covers at least the following areas:
    • Engineering concepts
    • Product customization / configuration
    • Costing and delivery based on suppliers bids for purchased items
    • Identifying long lead items and discuss delivery plan with Engineering and Purchasing departments
    • Liquidated damages, if any, after obtaining executive approvals
    • Commercial terms
    • Follow-up on projects with Rotork company representatives, distributors, customers, and area sales managers
    • Provide product training to new employees, sales force, and customers
    • Write technical product specifications and perform competition analysis using Rotork Sales Management System (RSMS)
    • Occasional customer visitations to perform sales presentations support engineering concepts and designs
    • Develop tools to improve the department process efficiency
    • Ensure customers’ requirements are completely and adequately transferred to Contracts Department

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Sciences (B.S.) in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.  Other engineering fields or equivalent experience in hydraulic and pneumatic may also be considered
  • Microsoft Word, excel and outlook (Intermediate level)
  • Experience in electric concepts, pneumatics / hydraulics controls, circuit diagram experience is a plus
