Materials Controller

Reports To: Assistant Supply Chain and Planning Manager
Position Summary:

About the role:

You’ll be responsible for assisting the Materials Team Leader using the planning systems in order to deliver product to promise and optimise component inventory levels consistent with delivering to plan. You’ll provide forward visibility for the Material Procurement Team and Production Team so that they can plan execute material supply and plan capacity to ensure Production is consistently supported with a build plan consistent with the material supply plan.

You will:

  • Placing orders to ERP suggestions – PR to PO conversion
  • Proactive expediting against forward PO orderbook
  • Reactive expediting to customer & production shortages
  • Execution of PO placing in line with system parameters
  • Assist the team with feedback on material availability
  • Assist in the introduction of new parts through Engineering Change
  • Liaise with Quality and Engineering Departments with regard to non-conforming material and engineering issues raised by suppliers

About you:

You will have strong experience in a Purchasing or Production Planning role within a manufacturing facility. Have good knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management skills. You’ll have a good understanding of best practice purchasing and planning systems and processes and some background in purchasing assemblies from overseas suppliers. As the ideal candidate you will have excellent IT skills with the ability to implement solutions that use IT to improve efficiency and be able to support new system introduction.
