Plant Manager

Position Summary:

To lead all aspects of the Bath Factory including Contracts, Shipping, Spares, Purchasing, Production, Quality, HR & Finance. To collaborate with the strategic sourcing and development teams.

To set the direction and lead the site management team in continuing Bath Plant’s journey towards world class delivery, quality and cost performance. To drive a culture of customer focus and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities:

Assembly, Test and Production Engineering

  • Achieving planned actuator and spares invoice targets from the bath plant, efficiently, safely and on-time

Quality

  • Ensuring that the quality of the company’s products and services meets the expectations of its customers at minimum cost

Purchasing

  • Ensuring that components and sub-assemblies of prescribed quality are provided to production, when needed at the lowest possible cost whilst managing inventory. Manage the Bath supply base performance and manage sourcing decisions consistent with the divisional Strategic sourcing team

Contracts and Logistics

  • Ensuring that customers’ orders are correctly interpreted and entered and that products and parts are economically shipped to end destinations. Ensure the customer is at all times informed of expected shipment dates and any issues that may affect their project plans

Facilities, Health and Safety and the Environment

  • Providing safe, healthy and well-maintained office and factory working environments. Maintain the building and infrastructure for all facilities on the Bath site (including plc offices)

People Development / Organisational development

  • Managing, motivating and developing the operations team, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills to achieve longer term business objectives. Make appropriate changes to structure and processes to suit new working practices. Ensure succession planning is used to facilitate the evolution of the organisation 

Finance Management and Budgeting

  • Robust control and reporting of the numbers and achieving the financial targets. Accurate forecasting of financials. Responsibility for the annual budgeting process

Candidate Specification:

  • Graduate in technical subject, preferably Engineering/Production Engineering
  • Significant Operations/Production management experience (Essential)
  • Experience of leading and managing change successfully
  • International Supply Chain experience (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Financial skills/commercially strong (Essential)
  • Medium to high volume production environment, ideally of a high mix and complex configured engineering product. Ideally can demonstrate the transformation of a production facility to achieve world class standards
  • Experience of electro-mechanical manufacturing (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with different manufacturing techniques (Lean, BPR and a pragmatic view of when to use them)
  • IT - knowledge of/familiarity with manufacturing software systems
  • Ability to lead from the front and inspire a capable team to continually improve
