Position Summary:

The Project Sales position is responsible to the General Manager for sales related activities involving capital projects, key accounts, high value targets, and business development. The position is a senior level role and requires high level skills in promoting all Rotork products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing a “shared” territory in line with Rotork Houston sales objectives goals as described in the Rotork Houston Business Plan
  • Using a professional top down selling approach with clear objectives and techniques to lead the Rotork sales effort on major projects, key accounts, or new market development
  • Generating sales strategies, including actions for others, in order to put Rotork in a specified position. This may involve traveling throughout the territory, or assigning actions to another salesman within the team
  • Working to understand market trends and industry developments. Monitor trade magazine, shows, etc. to ensure we know about upcoming opportunities, applications, and trends. Once an opportunity is identified, coordinate with the GCFS Sales Manager and/or GM to prepare a business case to justify needed resources to achieve the identified goal
  • Meeting with customers always with the primary objective of selling and in addition carrying out secondary objectives such as technical assistance, support and other non-value generating activities
  • Delivering quality, relationship building sales efforts with the aim to build loyalty with customers resulting in increased revenue and company profitability
  • Mapping of accounts to determine the core of the buying decision and working with allies and associates to ensure that the Rotork message is delivered in line with company objectives
  • Optimizing selling time in front of customers whilst doing non-selling activities outside of these hours
  • Contributing to the “real” growth of Rotork and not being satisfied with growth increases and decreases due to economic cycles
  • Understanding the customers’ budget and what portion of that budget Rotork is currently satisfying
  • The following reporting activities are mandatory and should be considered the minimum requirements:
    • Yearly Area Report (Updated Quarterly)
    • Routine RSMS updates (accounts, visit reports, contacts, projects, forecasts, etc)
    • Assist GM with BFR review for major projects
    • Visit reports of key sales calls and/or meetings

Candidate Specification:

  • Minimum 5 years of successful selling experience in engineered industrial valve automation products through direct and indirect channels. Familiar with techniques required to coordinate the sale of products and services on capital projects as well as to resellers and end-users
  • Applicable degree or advanced diploma plus directly related experience in a related position

  • The desire to always deliver a quality product to both internal and external customers
  • Exhibit tact and strong diplomatic skills when dealing with all staff, customers and suppliers
  • Sound time management and planning skills
  • High level of self-motivation, independence and self-reliance
