Quality Inspector

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for performing dimensional and/or functional inspection on purchased components, outsourced processes, and manufactured products.

The Opportunity

This role uses technical expertise and inspection and test equipment to verify conformance of components/products to drawings, process sheets and specifications


Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs incoming, in process and final inspections on a variety of components and products
  • Provides inspection support in the form of liaison working with production and engineering to facilitate solutions to questions or problems that may arise
  • Documents NCR’s as necessary, updates the NCR database, and interacts with internal departments to ensure accounting of quality issues
  • Performs verification/calibration on process, inspection and test equipment, maintains records and ensures on time completion
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation by completing all necessary paperwork (i.e. quality records, production records, etc.)
  • Provides continuous feedback to Quality Team regarding quality, engineering and manufacturing related issues
  • Suggest/works with the Quality Manager on quality system and process improvements
  • Performs product and process related internal audits
  • Processes customer returns and ensures timely disposition of parts
  • Works with Operations team members to provide training on inspection methods, work instructions, procedures or production processes
  • Participates in special projects, problem investigations and assignments

Experience Requirements

  • AAS Degree, preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with inspection and measuring equipment; calibration and quality systems as part of a Quality function
  • Knowledgeable in the use of inspection and test equipment including, but not limited to micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, gage pins, gage blocks, and thread gages
  • Familiarity with basic GD&T helpful
  • Strong ability in reading and interpreting complex drawings/blueprints to understand parameters of components/products
  • Knowledgeable about current quality system standards such as ISO 9001 helpful
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, helpful
  • Computer proficiency in Excel and Word, required
