Position Summary:

The Sales Manager reports to the General Manager (GM) and is responsible for all sales related activities within the assigned region. The Sales Manager will be a key member of the management team and has supervisory responsibility for the designated regional sales team.

These direct reports will office out of the assigned office or home offices in the territories. The position requires knowledge and experience in the field of engineered product sales together with a strong commitment to top-quality customer service.

Candidate Specification:

Outside Sales Management

  • Evaluate sales people’s performance and set measurable goals that meet our strategic sales plan and are agreed upon with the GM
  • Provides leadership and direction to the field sales team to ensure that they are working effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure the sales team has adequate training and the tools needed to do their job
  • Spends time with each member of the field sales team visiting customers and prospective customers in order to gain first hand knowledge of their applications and the challenges they face
  • Ensures that the members of the field sales team receive the customer service support they need so they can remain on the road and win the next order
  • Monitors Rotork’s Sales Management System (RSMS) reporting to measure individual usage and forecasting accuracy. RSMS will be the primary vehicle for sales activity reporting
  • Use sales activities, contacts at key accounts and knowledge of the industry to help the GM identify market size and share by division and industry
  • Keep management informed about our competitive position and the actions of competitors
  • Maintains direct contact with strategic and corporate accounts
  • Work with the Inside Sales Supervisor/Manager to drive industry leading customer service in the areas of technical support on product applications, quotations and related commercial questions
  • Drive close cooperation between the field sales team and the inside sales team so that proposals and quotations are in accordance with the customer specifications and that internal commercial instructions are followed

Planning and Forecasting

  • Develop sales plan in conjunction with the Regional GM that aligns with the overall business plan
  • Monitor the sales team to ensure they are all working in line with the Flow-Quip goals
  • Drive the sales team to enter all known projects onto RSMS and ensure that accurate forecasts are entered and maintained on a monthly basis
  • Work with the Regional GM at each Business Forecast Review (BFR) to explain the current input forecast compared to budget to allow the GM to accurately complete the Quarterly Projection Review (QPR) process
  • Assist the Regional GM to update and maintain a realistic rolling three year business plan

Human Resources

  • Work with Rotork’s training department to ensure that all staff receives adequate training on customer service tools (systems) and the products and services provided by the Company
  • Conduct staff performance reviews (directly and indirectly through reporting managers) in accordance with the Employee Handbook
  • Prepares and maintains current job descriptions for all positions reporting to them and ensures that all staff work in accordance with their job description
  • Help drive a strong health and safety culture throughout the company

Functional/ Technical Competencies:

  • 4 year degree in business in industrial management as a minimum. Technical degree preferred
  • Previously trained/ user in a proven sales management system such as Miller Heiman
  • 5 years’ experience in the sale of engineered products, preferably industrial valve automation direct and indirect channels
  • Prior sales management experience and/or proven ability to manage, motivate and lead sales people
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of sales people covering corporate accounts, capital projects, resellers and end-users
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of Microsoft Office®
