Supply Chain Manager

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the purchasing of materials, equipment and supplies as well as to select and manage vendors to ensure proper quality, on-time delivery, and cost reductions. This position will require frequent visits to existing and potential vendors. 

 

The Opportunity

Primary Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, coordinate and conduct transactions involved in the procurement of manufacturing materials, tools, supplies, services, etc., in accordance with company guidelines and policies. Recommend and implement local departmental policies and procedures
  • Supervise the activities of department employees in a consistent and impartial manner, to include planning/scheduling work, participating in recruiting and performance management activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, rules and regulations, addressing employee concerns and promoting team work and positive employee attitudes
  • Develop our network of suppliers (Domestic and International) for mechanical, electrical and electronic components and equipment and to identify and engage new suppliers where appropriate
  • By regular risk analysis, ensure the continuity of all supplies in the event of political, commercial or other disturbances
  • Reduce material delivery lead times in accordance with agreed targets
  • Improve the percentage of on-time deliveries with agreed targets
  • Achieve component cost reduction targets as agreed with the Operations Manager
  • Assist the Quality department in ensuring that material supplies are fit-for-purpose
  • Minimize the component shortages which impact production and spares deliveries
  • Meet overall and product-specific inventory value and accuracy targets
  • Ensure that the supply chain is in place to support Rotork medium and long term plans and requirements
  • Ensure that suppliers are meeting the agreed KPIs and targets
  • Manage and co-ordinate new product development and engineering change within the supply base
  • Aid the selection of new suppliers through discussions with engineering and quality departments
  • Ensure tooling is in place to meet the current and future requirements and is maintained to support company’s demands
  • Manage projects leading to component cost reductions, in particular utilizing low-cost manufacturing countries
  • Liaise with other Rotork manufacturing sites sharing knowledge, experience and co-coordinating activities within the global supply base
  • Extend and increase the common international network of suppliers

Experience Requirements

  • Five or more years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • An Engineering or Production background
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering
  • Strong negotiating, communications and numeracy skills
  • Highly developed commercial awareness
  • Working knowledge of ERP and other computer systems
  • Computer literate
  • Work-related travel to foreign countries (Asia is a plus)

  • Ability to form lasting working relationships with peer group managers, subordinates, senior management and representatives at all levels from supplier companies
  • Ability to travel about 25%, will include foreign travel
