Test Automation Team Lead

Position Summary:

The Opportunity

Rotork has an opening for an experienced, innovative Test Automation Team Lead based in the Bath. Our engineering team creates reliable innovative control solutions which often form the foundation of large international critical infrastructure.

As part of the global multidisciplinary engineering team you will head the team responsible for the implementation of the test automation strategy in a Hardware in The Loop environment to shape Rotork’s future of verification & validation and continually pushing the boundaries redefining the benchmark of robust and reliable products that keep the world flowing.

As well as leading a team of test automation engineers you will create a global test automation framework using a model-based engineering approach and others to enable the verification and validation of software, hardware, and mechanical products. You will engage with test engineers and design engineers to deliver solutions for the functional and system feature test.

As a team leader you will oversee the development and deployment of the test rigs and test framework across the business and develop multicultural teams globally to deliver test automation for various projects.


Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Software, Control system or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of leading test & test automation engineers, designing test frameworks, and using Hardware in the Loop test environments and real time technologies.
  • Hands on experience in unit, integration, and system level automated testing.
  • Experience in using Test management tools, Defect management, and regression testing with test coverage metrics.
  • Strong decision-making ability – able to make decisions quickly in a crisis.


  • Good Knowledge of various Test frameworks in python/C#, or dSpace tool chain (ControlDesk, AutomationDesk), or Simulink Test, NI Veristand, or similar.
  • Understanding of Modelling tools e.g. Matlab/Simulink and realtime HiL rigs such as dSPACE, or Speedgoat or National Instruments.
  • App testing tools like Appium or selenium or similar.
    Good Knowledge of testing tooling interfaces such as Wifi and 2G/4G, NB-IOT/LTE-M1.
  • Good knowledge of testing connected devices.
