Health & Safety

Rotork Health and Safety

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people and our visitors is our number one priority. We want our colleagues to go home in the same or better condition than they arrived for work every day.

Safety is a core value of our business, involving everyone at Rotork. In 2018 we deployed a continuous improvement module as part of our Growth Acceleration Programme. It provides a systematic approach for us to integrate safety into everything we do.

In 2019 we started to realise some of the benefits of the safety integration into our lean working principles. For the first time we started to monitor and record leading indicator practices of health and safety risk at a site level and held our businesses accountable for improving their leading indicator performance.

Our focus on leading indicator performance helped to drive down our accident performance from 2018. Our main lagging indicator is Lost Time Injury Rate (‘LTIR’) – against this KPI we delivered an improvement from 0.32 in 2018 to 0.25 in 2019.

The number of first aid injuries also fell slightly in 2019 against 2018 performance. In 2018 we had 202 first aid injuries and in 2019 there were 198 first aid injuries.

Moving forward we will continue to follow our continual improvement module and focus on further development of our leading indicator philosophy. We are currently working on an initiative to benchmark our current safety programme against leading internationally recognised best practice programmes.
