Why are the input shafts for gearboxes different diameters for manual and motorised?
Motorised inputs are designated by ISO for the flange size and the shaft diameter. I.e. an F25 flange requires a 50mm diameter shaft, but manual shaft diameters are Rotork default sizes to optimise stock of handwheels and shafts.
