Project Manager, UK

“It is truly rewarding working for the world leader in valve actuation technology. With many innovative projects in the pipeline it is exciting to be a Project Manager at Rotork.”

I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, graduating with an MEng degree in 2009. I entered my first engineering role as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate working for both the University of Wolverhampton and a manufacturing firm based in Birmingham. During this time I attained a Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership, which granted me membership to the Chartered Management Institute and I also completed PRINCE2 training.

Upon completion of a two year KTP programme, I joined Rotork as a Nuclear Engineer. The range of knowledge and experience I gained enabled me to reach Chartered Engineer status. I then moved to Advanced Applications Engineering where I designed and project managed the delivery of an indicator module for our flagship actuator IQ3, working with a team in Shanghai, China. The support from Rotork has enabled me to transition from engineering to project management, and I now manage multiple projects across different teams. Rotork are also supporting me with a PhD which I am undertaking at UWE on a part-time basis.

My journey has been about technical and practical skills, as well as interpersonal skills, managing stakeholder expectations and planning ahead to see projects through to completion.
