Rotork wins important orders from Mexican petroleum industry

Rotork supplies heavy duty electric and pneumatic actuators and two-wire control systems for important onshore and offshore petroleum projects in Mexico.

Electric actuator orders involve Rotork IQ range intelligent actuators, controlled and monitored by a Rotork Pakscan two-wire system, for a new six part metering skid project, including fixed bi-directional calibration provers, at Tuxpan in the State of Vera Cruz.

A total of sixty IQ actuators will operate valves in sizes up to 30 inches on pipelines that bring oil from offshore for storage at the Pemex-owned Terminal Martina de Tuxpan prior to processing at the Tula and Salamanca refineries in Mexico?s Central Republic.

Rotork worked closely with Pemex Refinacion to secure orders for isolating and modulating IQ intelligent actuators on the project, together with the Pakscan supervisory system, which is widely used in tank farms in Mexico. Proven support with the commissioning of actuators and control systems, combined with a swift response to the specification writing and quotation requirements of the contract, contributed to winning the orders in the face of fierce competition from the USA and Europe. Pneumatic actuator orders total nearly two hundred Rotork GP and P range actuators, manufactured at Rotork's Fluid System factory in Rochester, USA, for three EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects on offshore platforms in the Bay of Campeche.

In the largest project, 161 actuators will perform emergency shutdown valve duties on three drilling complexes and five peripheral platforms sited in the Cantarell Field, as part of a multi-million dollar increased production project undertaken by Pemex.
