Christian - Cost Engineering Lead
After a variety of working experiences, Christian Barbieri is thrilled to have found his true fit at Rotork.
Prior to joining the company in 2024, Christian worked in several engineering fields including aerospace, automotive and subsea, and for civil and military applications.
Today, he’s a Cost Engineering Lead at our base in Lucca, Italy. He’s a one-man team with a global reach, collaborating with multiple teams to deliver results for colleagues and customers.
Christian said: “I am an integral link between engineering and the global supply chain, so I work with every one of our sites and regions. The engineering and the global supply teams often have different targets, so my role is to collaborate to achieve results. Together, we deliver the best for our people, our customers and Rotork.”
Often travelling for work, Christian has met colleagues from many different backgrounds and finds this is the key to #TogetherWeEngineer, the theme for this year’s International Women in Engineering Day.
“I always want to work in a diverse team because that’s how you innovate and find the best solution to a problem. At Rotork, we have a methodology to reinvent what already exists by evaluating any problems and putting together possible solutions. In the same way, by collaborating with people who have different perspectives, we all see the problem differently, and that’s how we achieve great results.”
When it comes specifically to women in engineering, Christian said: “I don’t see differences – I see the role and the opportunities diversity brings. Diversity is a way to improve our capabilities and see the world differently.”
