Field Service Technician - OK

Position Summary:

The primary role of the Field Service Engineer is to install, inspect, maintain and repair actuators and commission associated equipment in customer’s plant/site. The role involves providing a prompt and effective service to resolve customer issues as they arise and may require 50-75% travel. This role will be based in OK, however, travel to other states will be on an as needed basis.

The job holder shall be required to work in end user’s plant primarily in the Water and Waste Water, Petrochemical, Offshore Oil, Gas and Power Generation Industries, meeting the client’s regulations and working hours. From time to time it will be required to cover 24hr on-call response.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Travel as allocated to customer sites, maintain a log of working times and travel
  •  Identify faults, repair, test/commission, modify/upgrade actuators in the field
  •  Carry out inspections/health checks and PPM work on Rotork or other brand actuators
  •  Carry out mechanical, (sometimes electrical) installation of actuators and associated retrofit adaption components, pedestals and drive shafts
  •  Complete site visit reports for each job, which are accurate and technically/grammatically correct
  •  Awareness of different site rules and risks relating to health and safety
  •  Complete risk assessments and review/amend method statements in line with site requirements and the company HSE policy
  •  Perform all work required to complete repairs in diverse situations
  •  Carry out detailed valve surveys, collecting mechanical data/dimensions accurately to enable the correct sizing, selection and manufacture of a retrofit replacement
  •  Provide basic commissioning, operator and maintenance training to customers if required
  •  Promote the capabilities of Rotork and Rotork Site Service to identify opportunities and deliver incremental sales (parts, retrofit and maintenance contracts) 
  •  Work directly with local sales team to grow the territory, meet client requirements and execute strategy
  • Maintain inventory of commonly used parts, tools and other issued equipment
  • Keep the company vehicle clean undamaged and maintained in good repair in accordance with the maker’s service schedule
  • Available to work in the Rotork workshop as necessary
  • Able to work non-standard hours and shift work as required by our customers schedules and defined in customer contracts
  • When required able to perform job in remote locations, outside of primary office or country or offshore for a duration that may range from several days to several weeks

Physical Requirements:

  • Pass fit for duty medical assessment
  • Ability to wear and pass a respirator fit test
  • Ability to lift 50lbs/23kg from floor to bench and work in diverse/hazardous locations
  • Ability to push, pull and reach
  • Requires work standing, above shoulders, bent over, kneeling or sitting
  • Ability to perform work at heights with use of ladder, scaffolding, and man lifts
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs carrying 50lb tool bag or supplies
  • Ability to climb vertical ladder and haul tools up/down with rope (up to 30 pounds)
  • Dexterity to work in tight spaces with hand tools
  • Flexibility to work and walk in tight spaces
  • Requires ability to push, pull 50 lbs or work above shoulders
  • Operate motor vehicle (drive to / from work site) including long distances. Sometimes includes flying
  • Work up to 12+ hours per day. Sometimes alone, odd hour or shift work
  • Work in adverse weather conditions: below freezing to above 100 F, light rain, snow (no lightening)
  • Work with live power (up to 575 VAC), Work with systems under pressure (hydraulic/pneumatic), Work with stored energy

Functional/ Technical Competencies:

  • Technical experience and/or relevant knowledge of valves, actuators and digital control systems
  • Technical knowledge acquired by a recognized electrical/mechanical  engineering qualification/apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience in a field based role
  • Good understanding of basic electronics, electrical and fluid power theories
  • Experience of working in a practical engineering environment
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and utilization of common test and calibration tools
  • Demonstrates an above average mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to think logically for troubleshooting problems
  • Ability to work in stressful situations with difficult clients or 3rd parties who are interested in an expeditious resolution
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, & customer service skills
  • IT proficient – service department software and Microsoft Office
  • Awareness of the proper use of equipment and safe handling of electronic devices
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently and maintain a clean driving license
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance of HS&E standards as defined by Rotork and required by local legislation and customer specific
