Global Category Manager - Buildings & Facilities Management

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join our Global Procurement team and take responsibility for Buildings globally. This will include, but is not limited to; Facilities Management, Lease & Rent and Utilities.

Our global procurement function was established in the summer of 2018 and Direct procurement has been the initial focus. This is a great opportunity (greenfield procurement) for the successful candidate to devise a global strategy for the Buildings category.

You will be responsible for developing the global sourcing strategy, strategic procurement and related procurement processes and policies across all Indirect subcategories.

You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Managing an annual global spend of circa £10-£15 million
  • Supporting stakeholders to ensure their key objectives are met within the Indirect Strategic Category Plan
  • Managing RFx/ Processes - evaluating competitive offerings from suppliers and presenting recommendations internally
  • Leading strategic contract negotiations and vendor selection through the bid process. Establishing commercial terms within the overall contract through to contract approval and execution
  • Developing and managing the supply base covering all areas including spend, contracts and social responsibility

About You

To be considered for our Global Category Manager role you’ll have experience of setting up a category plan and sourcing strategy in a role with global reach. You will have the ability to build strong, value-adding relationships and will be highly credible in front of senior stakeholders and the executives of key suppliers.

You’ll also have:

  • Proven experience of delivering both short term savings and risk mitigation plus long term commercial opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations and develop negotiation strategies for large and complex projects and contracts in the manufacturing sector
  • A good understanding of commercial models of common ways of contracting and procuring services
  • Well-developed negotiation skills in indirect categories underpinned by detailed contract knowledge, including complex service scope and SLAs
  • MCIPS is an advantage
