Senior Firmware Engineer

Position Summary:

The Opportunity

Rotork has an opening for an experienced, innovative Sr. Firmware Engineer in the Bath. Our engineering team creates reliable innovative control solutions which often form the foundation of large international critical infrastructure.

Working as part of multidisciplinary team, you would be a technical lead in your domain, directing development, implementing new features and capabilities for our products and services.

Being a self-motivated, proactive and most importantly, curious person you would help contribute to our culture of experimentation and continual improvement. You would also be responsible for planning and managing your own work whilst helping to co-ordinate, support and develop those around you and the global organisation.

Working as a firmware engineer we would expect you to have a thorough knowledge of C for microcontrollers, unit testing and to be well versed in the use of version control systems. As a senior engineer you would promote best practices through design reviews as well as influencing the development of coding standards and processes.

Essentials

Experience in leading a variety of industrial embedded firmware based projects
Expert level skill coupled with a structured programming approach in C
A data driven mindset with an ability to create test scenarios and unit tests
Familiar with use of distributed version control systems (e.g. Git/Mercurial)
Experience conducting code reviews and use of coding standards
Experience in debugging low level firmware running on hardware
Ability to write concise documents (e.g. software specifications and architectures)

Desirables

Experience programming in python
Experience of working in and agile working environment
Understanding/experience of motor control (and/)or industrial communication networks
Experience of simulation and modelling
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Knowledge/use of industry coding standards such as MISRA
Knowledge/experience of safety critical development (e.g. SIL IEC61508)
UX and interaction model design experience
