アクチュエータ及びバルブ自動化におけるデジタル化の重要性
ロトルクが、最近、雑誌「Control Engineering Europe」に取り上げられ、バルブ自動化及び制御におけるデジタル化の重要性について語りました。 Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)とは、データの収集・共有を可能にするためのセンサー、電子装置及びソフトウェアを有するデバイスを用いた技術であり、これは可能な限り効率的且つ安全な現場稼働を実現するための基本的アプローチです。 最新の技術革新は制御製品そのものだけに限らず、製品が作成・保持するデータについても為されており、迅速且つインフォームド(情報を知った上での)な選択や、時間・金銭の節約を可能にしながら、性能及び安全性の向上を実現しています。 システムのデジタル化によって得られるデータの価値を誇張することはできないものの、データを受け取るには、現場に、有益情報を取得できる適切な装置を取り付ける必要があります。現場の数百台のバルブを操作する場合、デジタルアセットマネジメントネットワークを機能させるには、高度なデータロギングを可能にするインテリジェントアクチュエータを組み込むことが必要不可欠です。オペレータは、ロトルクIQ3等のアクチュエータを利用して、現場・制御ルームを問わず、統合されたネットワークからデータを取得することが可能です。

二酸化炭素回収・貯蔵における電動アクチュエータの重要性
理想的な社会では、再生可能なカーボンニュートラル(脱炭素型)資源をエネルギー源として使用しているでしょう。ナショナル・ジオグラフィックによると、我々のエネルギーの80%以上が化石燃料を原料としており、燃焼すると現在の気候危機をさらに悪化させるものですが、この問題の解決策となり得るのが(1)CCS(二酸化炭素回収・貯留)です。 CCSとは、煙道ガス管などの点源(point source)から二酸化炭素(CO2)を抽出し地中に貯留する技術を言い、環境目標を達成するための選択肢になるものです。このエネルギーは、従来の炭化水素や工業物質から生成されていますが、政府は炭素抽出を奨励しています。 今後30年の気候変動目標を達成するには、約7500の大規模炭素回収施設を配置する(2021年5月、IEA報告書、「2050年までに正味ゼロ」)必要があり、電動アクチュエータはこのエネルギー転換の必要不可欠な部分とされています。 (1)化石燃料－引用元(nationalgeographic.com)
